Transformations of Dialectal Lexis Forced by Non-Linguistic Conditions – Snopek and Stóg in the Language of the Inhabitants of West Central Poland

Summary/Abstract: The article discusses the directions of transformations of the names snopek (sheaf) and stóg (stack) in the contemporary language of the inhabitants of west central Poland. The researched material shows both the traditional understanding of the two words by respondents and also their contemporary usage. The paper presents the moment of crystallizing the names of new designates in the perspective of temporal changeability – a process which is still taking place.
