Summary/Abstract: This essay presents the notions that we either do not know how to explain or frequently change their meaning. The aim to examine and establish positions and attitudes in relation to several key notions: people, nationality, nation, and the role of religion in the formation of the modern Bosnian state. In the second part of the research, the author tried to uncover if the educational aim had been reached, i.e. if the students are aware of their national affiliation. On the basis of data and graphs, we wanted to substantiate the hypothesis: ‘How much the students differentiate between the notions of nation and people, and what is the importance and the role of religion and nation in BiH?’ In the final part, we wanted to demonstrate to what extent are the citizens aware of their national affiliation and whether they have a sense of patriotism. BiH has no civil society developed enough to use democratic means to fight for civic rights.
