Infrastructure in social-economic development of gminas in Poland

Summary/Abstract: This paper presents problems of social and technical infrastructure as the main development factor of gminas. On the basis of selected features, the synthetic indicator development of social and technical infrastructure and of economic development was estimated using the Hellwig’s method. For this purpose the statistical data from the Local Data Bank of the Central Statistical Office were used. It was concluded that technical infrastructure plays an increasingly important role in the development of gminas. Its importance surpasses the influence of social infrastructure. This conclusion is particularly true for urban gminas, however, recently a similar trend has been observed in rural gminas, with considerably lower level of local development.
