Summary/Abstract: Family is an exceedingly important environment of every person's life and development. It is in it that a person comes to this world, establishes his first relations, learns respect and love. It is also in the family circle that s/he learns sensitivity to other people's needs, which is specifically expressed in his/her involvement in a voluntary organization. The studies presented in the article prove that a family environment with a democratic atmosphere favors young people's decisions about getting involved in voluntary work. Their parents' model and their openness are a help in making responsible decisions about joining an organization, and interest in the work may be a perfect support in difficult of critical situations.
