On Folklore and Folklore Studies in Slovenia

Summary/Abstract: With regard to the situation in Slovenia it is important that there were two concepts of folklore and folkloristics resonating there – the ethnographical or ethnological one and the philological (or, literary) one, as they were instituted within European humanities. The ethnological concept may have a wider or narrower scope, depending on whether the subject of folkloristics should equal the subject of ethnology, or rather be narrowed down to phenomena of spiritual culture, i.e. artistic creation, maybe even only literary creation.
