Summary/Abstract: The article explores the issue of structural and functional changes in the area of moral and ethic thinking. In the last decades of the 20th c. characterized by a rapid development of science and technology, new moral problems emerged in the life of society. A wide range of its social and professional sections, especially representatives of natural sciences, got involved into their discussion and solution. The philosophical ethics that dominated previous centuries and, as an academic discipline, interpreted the specific features of moral consciousness was supplemented by applied ethics focused chiefly on the problem of implementation of moral imperatives in definite areas of human operation. Today, in the sphere of moral activity regulation, an important role, next to the general traditional attitudes, is played by the demands of definite matter-of-fact character, in the contents of which one may state a practical indivisibility of the moral and ethic reflection. These and also other new specific characteristics of the self-regulating system of personality and socium are revealed in this article through the prism of ecological ethics – one of the most important branches of applied ethics.
