Summary/Abstract: The world of information that has so preoccupied librarianship in the past, has changed drastically. A large number of users believe that their Internet provides, in terms of the information, all they need is essential, and to make information more easily and quickly as they can get from some other, not from library sources. Librarians today live in axciting time. The Internet and the global information environment today in fact is something that many librarians in the past have dreamt about. In the paper author discusses basic values of modern librarianship and the key factors for development of modern library services in the information society.
