Summary/Abstract: The virtual reality (VR) gives us ground for reflection on a comprehensive, and well-known, process of symbolization, which has not only a cultural, but a metaphysical, dimensions. As consequence the world has been reduced to an aggregate of „flate“ signes, easily discerned and ready for manipulation. This process underlies the technological simulation of the real and is a manifestation of Heideggerian „Ge-stell“ or a contemporary actualization of Cartesian „cogito“. At the same time as a triumph of the super-sensuous it is a fragment of the long standing rethoric of incorporeity. As an extension of this trend the VR is overcome with the pathos to „over-write“ the real, including our own bodies, by symbolic representations. And so, what happens in, and with, VR?
