Summary/Abstract: The topic of the paper are contemporary discussions between substantial philosophers, process philosophers and pragmatists on the problem about continuity and discontinuity of time. The paper consist of three parts. The first one outlines the situation with the collapse of the classical type of rationality and the emergence of the new type of nonclassical rationality which includes a new view about the problem of time. The contemporary substantialistic conception is describted also. The second part is devoted to the contemporary pragmatistic and processualistic reconstructions of Whitehead’s conception of time and to the discussions between them. Finally, the third part considers some pragmatistic views about the discontinuity of time and an attempt to combine the pragmatistic emphasis on continuity of time with the Whitehead’s emphasis on the atomicity of time.
