Summary/Abstract: The study presents the history of Hungarian-language Unitarian hymnbooks written and printed in Cluj-Napoca in the 17th century. There are three types of hymnbook: congregational hymnbooks, prayerbooks (for private use) and funeral hymnbooks. The study identifi es that a fragment earlier believed to be a Protestant hymnbook, is beyond a doubt a Unitarian congregational hymnbook printed in 1635. Considering other facts of literary history, with the help of the identifi ed book, it is clear that that the Unitarians in the 17th century aimed to publish all three types of hymnbooks simultaneously, whenever possible.
