A music teacher as an artist, educationist and community worker

Summary/Abstract: Teaching music in a general secondary school posesmany difficulties. The very situation requires perfect teachers who are able to interest young people with artistic music and encourage to listen to it. Responsibility for preparing teachers to be to the profession lies in specialist schools and music faculties in universities. One should wonder which features and skills the teacher gains in the course of studies appear to be particularly important in work and music development of young people. In which way should the teacher shape a positive attitude of young people to artistic music and which mistakes should he/she avoid? What does the contemporary social attitude of a music teacher consist in and which possibilities of actions does he/she have in this respect? The answers to these questions come from the literature, pedagogical experiences of the author of the article on a different education level, presently in the university shaping music teachers and her own studies.
