Summary/Abstract: Discovered at the end of the 19th century in the area of Babadag town, the votive altar dedicated to IOM for Emperor Marcus Aurelius’ health raised numerous discussions in the field literature regarding the localization of the mentioned settlement – vicus Nov. Given that the restitution of vic Nov(ioduni) was excluded by new epigraphic documents, we still need to locate this vicus. This article presents the archaeological investigation at the southwestern limit of the town of Babadag, where a large Roman settlement was identified, which could correspond to the settlement mentioned in the fragmentary inscription.
