Summary/Abstract: The article examines the life of Matko Laginja (born in 1852) who was a distinguished politician in the Croatian political movement in Istria. During Austro-Hungarian empire he fought for national rights of Croats in Istria and during the Kingdom of Serbs. Croats and Slovenians he supported the federative organization of the Yugoslav state.
