Summary/Abstract: Discusses a relatively rarely tackled in pedagogical literature issue of child’s “presence” in the world of the adults – employees, representatives of specific professions, how a child perceives the social and vocational world, how he or she grows into this reality in the course of the primary socialisation and how childhood affects the formation of the personal vocational biography. The analysis is based on various individual vocational development theories and selected concepts that attribute to childhood a specific role it has in future relations of an individual with the labour market. The reflection is enriched with references to selected conclusions drawn from author’s empirical verifications that aimed at providing a descriptive and evaluative picture of the vocational world as seen by small children and attempted to describe how children’s dream vocational projects are formed. These deliberations have also become a pretext for formulating general practical recommendations for supporting human vocational development, including the formation of vocational orientations and attitude to the labour world and its values, in the childhood.
