Priorities of Polish presidency

Summary/Abstract: Poland ran the presidency in a way which produced no protests from member states, thus demonstrating that it managed to handle member states’ conflicting interests. Getting such an acceptance level is quite an achievement, given the radically low level of mutual trust among the member states. There were no complaints from EU institutions, either. Actually, the presidency received recognition for the way it cooperated with the European Commission and the European Parliament. Poland took many small steps of importance for the EU’s everyday practical functioning. Facing the challenges related to the eurozone crisis and a deep split among member states, Poland was unable to keep the coherence of the European Union, but was warning partners about the growing threats arising from that situation.
