Summary/Abstract: The article discusses the latest ACLA report on the state of comparative literature published by Haun Saussy in the collective volume Comparative Literature in an Age of Globalisation. Two main challenging ideas are the main focus of the inquiry, the former being the ideatic inheritance of the old “literariness”, while the latter explores the possibilities of a metadisciplinary comparativism, taking into account the traditional idea of interdisciplinarity, as well as the contradictory definitions of the object and the method of comparative literature as particular field of research.
