Summary/Abstract: This article aims at showing the process of releasing some terms, metaphors and images of the antique culture from the paganish connotations, and sometimes affiliation them with the christian dogmatic. Two exegetical tractates are compared: „Hexameron“ of st.Basil and „Hexameron“ of st.Ambrose of Milan. Significant are four images: commentary on the words „the Heaven and the Earth“ from Gen 1:1, image of the rain, image of the bee as example of the mechanism of the government, commentary on the words „in the beginning“ from the Gen 1:1.
