Summary/Abstract: This article is about a question which has not been sufficiently elaborated on in ethnographic literature — the typology of the newly developed socialist feasts and rituals. In the first part the author studies the attempts made to classify the customs and rituals according to some definite indicators: the state power, the calendar, labour, etc. The efforts made to divide them into civic and religious rituals etc., are evaluated. In the second part of the article the socialist customs and rituals are structured according to the principles of their organization, and according to the subjective factor, which regulates them. Depending on their institutional characterization, they are divided into five relatively independent groups: party, state-public, labour-professional, family and Komsomol. This typology has already established itself into practice and reflects the level of the socialist system of government. The structuring of the socialist rituals and customs according to their bondage to the subjective factor, which organizes them, is not only of theoretical, but also of practical importance.
