Summary/Abstract: Managing business in a difficult and unfriendly environment is a crucial challenge for companies nowadays. It stems from the fact that in the business era which has begun, a change has become the most important feature defining the companies’ business environment. The pace of changes is faster than any time before, which not only accounts for a significant challenge for a company but also makes companies choose their strategic orientations enabling them to meet the changing requirements of customers and to adjust their activities to the market’s opportunities. The aim of the article is to identify the concept of agility in shaping companies’ competitiveness. The author claims that a competitive advantage may be gained only on condition of gaining agility. Therefore, attributes of agility are characteristic traits of the company which enable them to react to opportunities in the environment faster and more effectively.
