Summary/Abstract: The article aims at the analysis of the debate on objectivity running among Polish journalists. Using Pierre Bourdieu’s field theory and discourse analytical perspective, I attempt to describe an excerpt of this argument as a manifestation of the discursive game played in the journalistic field. The game’s crucial aspect is the discursive construction of the field’s basic dimensions : position, symbolic capital and the degree of field’s autonomy. To explore these issues, I employ the methodology of conversation analysis. The subject of my research is the verbal exchange, which took place in the program “Bronisław Wildstein przedstawia” [Bronisław Wildstein presents]. The program was broadcast several days following the broadcast of the controversial programs created by Jan Pospieszalski: “Warto Rozmawiać” [It’s worth talking] and “Solidarni 2010” [Solidary of 2010] by the first channel of the public television (TVP1) . In the verbal exchange I analyze three journalists participated: Bronisław Wildstein, Jan Pospieszalski and Maciej Iłowiecki. The main subjects of their discussion were: the statement of Media Ethics Council concerning the controversial broadcasts and the objectivity of one of the journalists, Mr. Pospieszalski. It is suggested that the discussion among the three journalists may be interpreted as a part of the game that crucially shapes the contemporary journalistic field.
