Entrepreneurship and innovations in knowledge based economy – global entrepreneurship monitor empirical research

Summary/Abstract: The paper presents the results of Global Entrepreneurship Monitor research in 2011 in the field of level of entrepreneurial activity, entrepreneurial attitudes and the impact of social and economic factors on those phenomena. The results show that entrepreneurial intent, opportunity recognition and the assessment of knowledge and skills positively influence the level of entrepreneurship while fear of failure has the negative impact. Among social and economic factors the antecedents of level of entrepreneurship are: government policy, government programs and physical infrastructure.
