Summary/Abstract: This article discusses Florian Znaniecki’s attempt to overcome the static dualism of the subjective ideal notions regarding the acting subject and objective, external reality. Hence the article focuses on a particular function of action: the gradual construction of a certain system of values in the framework of empirical reality, a construction done in stages, through selection and assessment of facts, and by establishing connections between those facts.
