Summary/Abstract: The paper deals with the intention of the Orthodox commons (the raya) in Smederevo Sanjak (beginning of the 19th century) to gain independence within the Ottoman Empire, as well as the implications to conditions in Bosnian Eyalet. The promise given by Sublime Porte about giving autonomy to the Orthodox commons (the raya) in Smederevo Sanjak named Principality of Serbia spread from 1812 till the end of 1833. In the meantime, this issue, being contentuous in its core, was troublesome for the Bosnian nobility, especially for the reason of annexation of Jadar and Rađevina nahiyahs to Smederevo Sanjak, and expelling of Muslim population from these areas, making itself debatable in diplomatic realm. Diplomatic activities that Russia was undertaking in regard to this issue toward Sublime Porte had been intertwined with those activities that were carried out by Miloš-bey Obrenović. Namely, obligingness and bribery of Belgrade muhafiza and other Ottoman and Russian diplomats that he practiced since the latter half of 1829, not waiting for the final outcome to take place in the field and practice, he was working on annexation of the aforementioned nahiyahs under his domain. He continued practicing similar activities even after hatisherif the November 1833 Hatt-i-Sharif, in terms of demarcation and concerning the premature expulsion of Muslim population from the territory of the Principality of Serbia.
