A rare version of Baruch´s Revelation in the Serbian Transcription from the 1st decade of the 16th century

Summary/Abstract: Among the Slavic translations of Baruch’s Revelation, two basic versions can be distinguished, the longer and the shorter one. The longer version belongs to the Greek type of this apocryph, known as III Baruch, and has been preserved in three redactions, only in south Slavic transcripts. The shorter version has been known only through three Russian transcripts, and due to this it has been referred to as the “Russian” version, for it is considered to have been translated in the Russian language area. Two more south Slavic transcripts have been added to the shorter variant lately. One is a Macedonian redaction, whereas the other one is Serbian. Both belong to the manuscript fragment kept at the National Library of Serbia in Belgrade. The first one dates from the third quarter of the 14th century, signature no. 711, while the other dates from the 1st decade of the 16th century, signature no. 760, and is the subject of this paper. This Serbian transcript represents a mixture of the shorter and the longer variants of Baruch’s Revelation.
