The Life of Members of the Muslim Sects from the Point of View of Their Religious Doctrine

Summary/Abstract: Some processes are viewed, concerning the dissemination of Islam on the Balkan peninsular, more specifically, the popularization of the Shiiti sects. The reasons – pragmatic and psychological – are shown for the preference of the Shiiti to the official Suniti nom of Islam. The specific characteristics, as well as the differences between some Shiiti groups, such as Alevies, Kuzulbashies, and Bektashies, are delineated. The Alevies are famous for their cult of Alli, for the denial of the Koran, the ecstatic name of their cult, etc. The Kuzulbashi from of Islam is based on the Turkic shamanism, reshaped by the Shiiti religious doctrine. The Bektashism originated in the second hall of the 18th с., at the time of great violence, riots, and migration of big groups of people in Middle and Lesser Asia. Furthermore, some specific for the Muslim sects on the Balkan peninsular rites and habitual practices are described. Among them are the so called Ashure bayram, the organization of the local religious community (“djem”) and the role and function of its leader, the rites for religious initiation, the “Koldan, Koran” ceremony, and so on.
