Summary/Abstract: In his review on the volume presenting the European history of drama from the beginning to our days, András Nagy stresses the outlining of the social-historical context appearing in the background of the book, a theatre-history taking shape beside drama-history. The reader’s objections concern not only the definition of the notion of drama, but also the choice of the authors and works drawn into the history of drama preferring only certain tendencies, and the uneven analysis of the enhanced periods.
