Summary/Abstract: The main problem, discussed in the article, is how the narrator’s personality influences the perception of his story by the folklore audience. The author claims that the closeness and personal acquaintance in the folklore setting demand from the storyteller not only the skill to deal with words, but certain personal characteristics, too. Inspire of his talents for telling stories, if he is а gloomy and unsociable person, or has some other features, repelling people, they would not be willing to listen to his stories and his talent would remain only latent. In order to develop and prove his abilities, the storyteller needs his audience support, while in order to cheer him up, the audience should have had accepted him as а narrator.
