François Paschoud (1938-2022)

Summary/Abstract: François Paschoud (January 11, 1938 – December 22, 2022) was a great European intellectual and a true friend to our country, our colleagues, and the Classical Association of Serbia. Due to the pandemic and a recent lapse in contact, we were informed of his passing by the Secretary-General of FIEC—based in Fribourg—on Saturday, December 31, 2022. He wrote: “Nous avons le grand regret de faire part du décès du Professeur François Paschoud qui fut Secrétaire Général de la FIEC de 1974 à 2004.” In a brief message, sent to all FIEC member associations early that morning—at 9:57 a.m.—he expressed his sincere and profound regret over this loss, while briefly outlining a few biographical details and some of the many roles Paschoud had held.
