Summary/Abstract: During the 1941 April war, Yugoslav royal government took a certain amount of gold, when taking refuge. The officers had later given the statements about the gold, which was also used in Yugoslav disputes in the „Cairo affair”. After the war, „new” Yugoslav authorities have undertaken a widespread investigation and diplomatic activity, in order to collect information necessary for claiming the gold taken from Yugoslavia and its restitution through the Restitution Commission. An obscure person Mate Topić Mimara was engaged for this aim. Apart from working for the Yugoslav state, he also worked for „himself”. The gold is again of a current interest in the division of Yugoslav heritage, and yet it again proves the stories that gold is atractive around the globe at all times.
