Summary/Abstract: The authors accept and positively verify the assumption of the functioning of a dominant presidency in Tajikistan, which depicts the historical and cultural conditions of Central Asia and positions the president as the undisputed creator of the state and leader of the nation. For this purpose, the authors present a historical outline of the establishment and development of the presidential institution in Tajikistan, formal mechanisms regulating its functioning and resulting from constitutional competences, as well as traditional tribal dependencies characteristic of the region, i.e. informal mechanisms for holding office.
