Summary/Abstract: The graduate profile defines the status of the preschooler/pupil/student as achieved at the end of each level of education that had been passed. In the postmodern (contemporary) historical era we may identify the following levels of education: a) preschool/primary school (primary education); b) gymnasium/lyceum or vocational school (secondary education); c) bachelor degree, Master’s degree, doctoral degree (higher university education). Defining these levels facilitates the pedagogical transition from one level to another while ensuring a common general education foundation maintained until the age of 16, a premise for the levelling of chances for school and professional success in all graduates. At the present, the graduate profile is determined: a) pedagogically – based on the general aims of the National Curriculum and the specific goals for each educational level, defined as competences; b) socially – depending on the type of culture at the root of the curricular construction of educational contents; c) psychologically – depending on the features of each specific development stage.
