Summary/Abstract: The aim of this review study is to examine the use of cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT) and its derivatives in individuals with obsessive-compulsive disorder (OCD). In this study, a review method was employed, and no fieldwork or any measurement scale was used. As a result of the studies reviewed, it was found that CBT (particularly exposure and response prevention) is an effective therapeutic approach in reducing symptom severity, increasing treatment adherence, and accelerating recovery. In addition, it was determined that adding CBT to the treatment process in cases that do not respond to medication, as well as newer approaches such as I-CBT, are effective methods in achieving outcomes in a short period of time. It was found that after these interventions were applied to individuals with OCD, symptoms significantly decreased and overall functioning improved. Therefore, it has been concluded that CBT-based approaches are effective methods in the treatment of OCD. This study is thought to shed light on future research. In this regard, it is recommended that future studies examine more comprehensively the long-term effects of different CBT protocols and the differences in effectiveness across patient groups.
