Summary/Abstract: This study aims to examine the editing techniques used in Ezel Akay’s Leyla Everlasting (9 Kere Leyla, 2020) through a formalist approach. The film was analyzed at the scene and sequence levels, and the effects of the editing strategies employed on the narrative were evaluated accordingly. In this context, the study is grounded in the style analysis method proposed by David Bordwell and Kristin Thompson, and examines the functions of these techniques within the film’s formal unity. The findings indicate that Akay departs from the codes of popular cinema and develops a fragmented, ironic, and experimental editing language characteristic of postmodern narrative. However, these formal preferences appear to cause the film to diverge significantly from mainstream popular cinematic narration. In this respect, the film constitutes a remarkable example of the formal functioning of editing strategies specific to postmodern narrative.
