Summary/Abstract: Alienation is an important problem that has been discussed in various ways in the history of philosophy. From the perspective of existentialism, it is stated as a problem related to the structure of human existence, while from the perspective of Marxism, the concept of alienation is considered as a problem related to capitalism. The problem of alienation is discussed in detail especially in the early works of Karl Marx. According to Karl Marx, one stage of alienation, which is discussed in three stages, is the alienation of human from own species. The alienation of human from own species as a being also includes the alienation of human from nature. Capitalism, which sees nature as a source of exploitation, alienates human from nature, of which is a part. In this study, Derviş Zaim's film Balık (2014) is analyzed with the sociological criticism method in the light of the ideas developed by Marxism regarding the problem of human alienation from nature. In the film, it is seen that nature has become an object of exploitation due to capitalist relations of production. The transformation of nature into a commodity and alienation from nature find a place in the film narrative as a very important problem for human life. The director of the film, Derviş Zaim, achieves a realistic expression and reveals the destruction of nature caused by the contradictions of the capitalist mode of production. Thus, the film develops an attitude that shows ecological sensitivity in favor of the protection of nature, reflects the reasons underlying the alienation of humans from nature and opposes the exploitation of nature.
