Summary/Abstract: This research, based on the Polysystem theory suggested by Itamar Even-Zohar, deals with two main questions: a position and a role of French medieval literature as translated literature within the literary system of Serbian/Yugoslav literature, and a position of the Serbian medieval literature as translated literature within French literary system. Results of researched repertoire of those two translated literatures defy some postulates of the Polysystem theory. Nevertheless, those two literatures have positions that are expected, i. e. a central position for the system of the French medieval literature and a peripheral one for the Serbian medieval literature as translated literature within another literary system.
