Summary/Abstract: The present study aims to highlight the main events in which the Ottomans were protagonists from the beginning of the 14th century until the fall of the Byzantine Empire in 1453. Emerging in history around the year 1300, the Ottoman people, through their formidable leaders, came to conquer the much-coveted Constantinople. The Ottoman emirs, then sultans, launched their violent attacks on the Christian Empire, which found itself in an increasingly critical situation as time passed. Reduced to the capital and a few other small territories, the Byzantine Empire faced a siege in April 1453 initiated by the Turks led by Mehmed II the Conqueror. After more than 50 days of siege, Constantinople was captured by the Ottomans, who plundered the city for three days. With this victory, the young Sultan fulfilled the dream of his predecessors to conquer the magnificent capital.
