Summary/Abstract: The article addresses the issue of contemporary threats to the security of penitentiary facilities, which have taken on a new dimension in recent years due to technological developments and social changes. Three main problem areas are identified: smuggling of psychoactive substances and illegal items, cyber threats, and the radicalisation of inmates. The article points to the need for an integrated and multidimensional approach to penitentiary security, including technical and organisational measures, as well as rehabilitation and deradicalisation programmes.
