Summary/Abstract: Sylvester Stallone, who served as both the screenwriter and lead actor in *Rocky*, drew inspiration from the 1975 Muhammad Ali vs. Chuck Wepner fight while writing the film. In that match, Chuck Wepner’s unexpected resilience and ability to keep the fight going for an extended period against the heavy favorite Muhammad Ali laid the foundation for the narrative of “the ordinary person who fights to the end, even if he loses.” In the film, the character Apollo Creed represents Muhammad Ali, while the character Rocky Balboa represents Chuck Wepner. Rocky’s primary goal is not to win, but to stay on his feet until the very end. In this study, the film “Rocky” is examined within the framework of industrial and organizational psychology and analyzed through the lens of motivation concepts.
