Summary/Abstract: We met Masahiko Otsuka at the International Seminar on Albanian Language, Literature, and Culture in Pristina. He stood out from the crowd at first glance; no other representative from Asia—and certainly no other Japanese national—was attending the seminar. To our surprise, however, we found it easy to communicate with him, not only in English and French but even in Serbian. He has been living in Belgrade for twenty-five years, working as a translator.
