Summary/Abstract: KREŠIMIR MICANOVIĆ (born 1968 in Brčko), a linguist and writer. He has published his poems and short stories in numerous Croatian and foreign journals (with works translated into Polish, Czech, Slovenian, Macedonian, and German). His writing is featured in several anthologies of contemporary Croatian prose. To date, he has published a poetry collection, *Dok prelazim asfalt* (1988), and two short story collections: *Vrtlar* (1994; translated into Polish as *Ogrodnik*, 2003) and *Treba se kretati* (2005). He works at the Department of Croatian Studies in Zagreb and has directed the Zagreb School of Slavic Studies in Dubrovnik since 2009. He published the scholarly monograph *Hrvatski s naglaskom: standard i jezični varijeteti* (2006) and is a co-author of the latest edition of the Croatian orthography manual (*Hrvatski pravopis*, 2007, 2008).
