Summary/Abstract: The history of Glagolitic—the oldest Slavic script—and the Slavic-language liturgy closely associated with it is remarkably diverse, extending far beyond Great Moravia or the medieval Bulgarian state. Glagolitic script also achieved widespread use and significance in Croatian lands, where two major centers of Glagolitic writing persisted for several centuries. In this study, I aim to outline the origins of Glagolitic writing, its spread and evolution in new centers, its golden age in the 14th and 15th centuries, and its subsequent decline.
