The Mediating Role of Proactive Personality in the Effect of Entrepreneurial Leadership on Innovative Behaviors

Summary/Abstract: The rapid changes experienced today create new competitive environments. In this competitive environment, it is of great importance for employees to exhibit innovative behaviors in ensuring the continuity of businesses. For this reason, the concept of innovative behaviors attracts the attention of businesses and managers. The effect of the entrepreneurial characteristics exhibited by leaders and the personality traits of employees is important in the innovative behaviors of employees. The aim of this research is to examine the effect of entrepreneurial leadership perception on the innovative work behavior of employees and to determine the mediating role of proactive personality traits on this effect. The research data consists of 387 private sector employees working in the city center of Balıkesir, who were determined by the online survey method with convenience sampling, who could be reached and agreed to participate in the research. SPSS 25 and Process Macro v4.2 statistical programs were used in the analysis of the data. Explanatory and confirmatory factor analyzes, correlation and regression analyzes were used in the analysis of the data. At the end of the research, it was obtained that entrepreneurial leadership positively affects innovative work behavior and proactive personality, and at the same time, proactive personality positively affects innovative work behavior. In addition, it was determined that proactive personality has a mediating effect on the effect of entrepreneurial leadership on the innovative work behavior of employees.
