Summary/Abstract: To protect residential areas from traffic noise in urban environments, acoustic barriers with specific characteristics are used. Road factors, including road design elements and the adjacent area, play an important role in determining the risk of traffic accidents. The meta-analysis presented in this article, which includes a systematic review of the acoustic and non-acoustic characteristics of concrete, metal, and wood panels, supports the design and management process of panels aimed at reducing traffic noise. The research results indicate that noise barriers are effective in reducing noise near roadways and that advanced design of these barriers improves road safety. The article aims to describe these systems and opens the way for new research that will study these panels in detail, as well as design new panels that will be examined both from the perspective of fire behavior and from the perspective of the acoustic protection they provide. The construction details in this article will be used to improve traffic safety, both to prevent accidents and to reduce casualties in the event of their occurrence.
