Summary/Abstract: The article analyzes the state border between the Republic of Moldova and Romania from the perspective of the normative and legal framework governing its establishment, functioning, and security, in the context of geopolitical developments and Moldova’s European integration aspirations. The purpose of the research is to examine the legal regime of the Moldovan-Romanian border in accordance with the principles of international law, to assess the level of bilateral cooperation, and to identify the border’s contribution to regional security. The applied methodology is qualitative, based on comparative analysis of international treaties, domestic legislation, security policy documents, and bilateral agreements, complemented by contextual interpretation of legal sources. The research results highlight that the Moldovan-Romanian border, established in compliance with international legal norms and managed through joint mechanisms, significantly contributes to strengthening national and regional security. At the same time, the study emphasizes the need to update the legal regime of the border and to fully implement the Integrated Border Management concept in line with European Union standards. The conclusions underline the Moldovan-Romanian border as an essential element of the Eastern European security architecture and a strategic cooperation platform in Moldova’s European integration process.
