Summary/Abstract: Proverbs are fixed expressions that embody the collective wisdom of a nation, reflecting its way of thinking, creativity, wit, and cultural layers. Possessing an anonymous character, proverbs occupy a wide range of usage both in daily speech and in written works. While many proverbs have been compiled and published as books by various individuals, a significant portion has been transmitted to the present day through oral sources. Among the studies conducted on proverbs, one noteworthy work is Durûb-ı Emsâl-i Türkiyye yâhûd Atalar Sözü, written by Tekezâde Mehmed Said at the end of the nineteenth century. In this study, after providing information about the life and works of Tekezâde Mehmed Said, an analysis of his work Durûb-ı Emsâl-i Türkiyye yâhûd Atalar Sözü is presented. Under the heading of “formal characteristics,” the study focuses on both the internal and external structure of the work, the organization of the texts, and such aspects as the length and verse units of the texts. Under the heading of “creation and transmission features,” it examines how the work was produced, the order in which the texts are arranged, the punctuation marks and narrative techniques employed, the use of footnotes, the forms and functions of references within the text, and examples of proverbs incorporated into poems. In the transcription of the texts within the analysis, the original text was strictly followed; transcription symbols were not used, and only vowel length was indicated.
