Summary/Abstract: The issue of cause and effect is part of the classic problems of philosophy. For Roman Ingarden, who in one of his flagship works, The Controversy over the Existence of the World, polemicises with Husserl’s idealism, the real existence of cause and effect, as he postulates, is an essential condition for resolving the controversy in favour of realism. This article attempts to describe the conditions necessary, according to Ingarden, for the existence of real, intra-world causal relationships, as well as the ontological principles that can be derived from them. Relationships of this kind are fundamental to the structure of the real world.
