Summary/Abstract: The continuous challenge of educational work is to prepare children during their schoolyears for adaptability to changing social, economic, and environmental conditions. The role of teacher training institutions is pivotal, as they must prepare future educators to meet these expectations. However, this process does not begin in teacher training institutions, as admitted students start their higher education studies with at least twelve years of personal school experience. This brings along certain ethical perspectives and pedagogical skills that must be taken into account. The aim of this study is to explore the foundations on which teacher training can currently build. We asked teacher training students to describe their past experiences and future aspirations. We looked for references that reflecton keywords such as values, morals, and ethics. The analysis of the materials highlighted that teacher training students have strong opinions about the values that shaped their education. Based on their past experiences and future aspirations, it becomes clear which values they consider universal. The results suggest that it is important for students to receive guidance during teacher training on the ethical principles that should form the foundation of their future pedagogical work. This is one of the pillars for successfully preparing children and students for the future.
