Summary/Abstract: The Brno-based Bulgarian folk dance ensemble Pirin is one of only two established organizations in the Czech Republic where one can learn Bulgarian dance variations. The ensemble was founded in 2001 by a group of young people interested in reviving Bulgarian folklore in the Czech lands. They decided to build upon the legacy of a defunct musical group that had been active in Brno during the 1950s and 1960s.
