The NewEduLib Project: Developing the key skills of specialist staff at the ‘Octavian Goga’ County Library in Clu

Summary/Abstract: Today·s world is shaped by the fast pace of technological advancement and rising levels of migration, which contribute to the development of multicultural communities in many countries. ln order to face these changes, the European Council established eight key competences that should be developed through both formal and non-formal education, so that European citizens are better prepared to navigate this new reality. White formal education focuses on teaching these competences to younger generations, libraries play an important role in offering non-formal programs aimed at developing these competences in the adult population. ln this context, the Erasmus+ project „New educational directions in the library'' first supported librarians from the ""Octavian Goga"" Cluj County Library in acquiring four of these competences. Afterwards, these librarians trained other school and public librarians, as well as adults from Cluj County and beyond, helping them to develop or further enhance their competences.
