Summary/Abstract: We met Ivan Mirkovski in the fall of 2012, when the obscure Skopje 2014 architectural project was already in full swing. But it was not the present that was at the forefront of our interest, but the past several decades ago. Ivan Mirkovski is one of the leading experts on the legacy of the Japanese architect Kenzo Tange, whose Master Plan 9 fundamentally changed the face of the Macedonian capital. The unique reconstruction of the earthquake-destroyed city is still shrouded in mystery, and we must unfortunately state that Tange's legacy has largely become a matter for historians, as the new massive construction has often irreversibly overwritten the unique and authentic silhouette of Tange's concrete face.
